Sapling Clearance

A handful of volunteers started the New Year by clearing saplings from around the barrows, although cold, the physical work soon had the coats and hats coming off.  Around 50 saplings were removed, protecting the barrows from further root damage. Many of the saplings will be used to restore local hedgerows.

Fungus Foray

Last Sunday, another successful Fungus Foray took place at the woods. Society members braved the bracing winds and combed the woods for all manner of Fungus. Although late in the season, we were able to identify nearly 30 species with the expert help of local naturalist, Les Cloutman.  Thanks to all who attended for making the event a success.
